Quick facts

PPF (front)

Full PPF
£5,000 – £8,000
Ceramic coat
£600 – £1,500
Lifespan
3 – 7 years

PPF vs ceramic coating

These two protection methods do different jobs. Paint protection film is a physical, self-healing layer that guards against stone chips and abrasion. Ceramic coating is a chemical layer that adds gloss, makes cleaning easier and protects against contaminants.

Many owners combine both: PPF on high-impact areas and a ceramic coating over the top for the whole car.

Correct washing technique

No coating replaces good technique. Use the two-bucket method, a pH-neutral shampoo and clean microfibre towels to avoid inflicting the swirl marks you are trying to prevent.

For a supercar, the difference between a careful hand wash and a careless one is visible under any showroom light.

What we love

  • Protects paint and resale value
  • Easier washing and maintenance
  • Guards against stone chips

Worth considering

  • Quality installation is expensive
  • Poor application can look worse
  • Not a substitute for careful washing

Frequently asked questions

For most owners, yes. It makes maintenance easier, deepens the gloss and protects the paint — but it is not a replacement for careful, correct washing.
