In order to win the Tuner GP around the Hockenheim, TechArt knew that their only option was the Porsche 911 GT2. The fact that it is lighter gave it the ability to push aside Cargraphic, Gemballa, and others.
The winning TechArt resembled the old GTstreet package, but had minor aerodynamic tweaks, enough to call it the RS. TechArt also boosted the turbocharger to from 19 lbs to 23 lbs. This, along with some exhaust work meant that Jorg Hardt had 700 bhp to the rear wheels.
One other car that benefited from having a lightweight chassis and a powerful engine is the brand new Ariel Atom 500. It had 1,000 bhp per ton using a V8 power and aluminum chassis. It will be made available to the American and UK market.
And finally there is the new Carlsson S600. Complete with 700bhp engine tuning and a bespoke interior by Aigner, we think this is probably the ultimate Gumball 3000 rally car. Now we have to ask ourselves is who will be the winner?
