Steve Saleen has created a new company – which he promises consumers will be different and better than his old one. In order to get everyone excited and on the same page as him he rented out an Orange County night club where he threw a rave in the honor of his new production model (under the SMS badge).
The launch of this new model was different than anything we have seen from Saleen. For two to three hours people spent the night dancing and drinking before the SMS 570 Challenger was revealed. Honestly this is by far a better revealing than if we were stuck at an auto show.
The guest list was made up of mainly member of the Saleen family and co-workers from the SMS staff who were all celebrating the completion of the newest supercar line-up. No one was allowed to test drive the car because it was immediately headed to a large auction in Arizona so they don’t want to risk damaging it.
The SMS 570 Challenger is produced with revised body panels and new butterfly induction hood flaps. The only thing we weren’t crazy about was the purple color that covered every inch of it.
Underneath the hood is a Chrysler 5.7 liter Hemi V8 engine and has supercharged it to the maximum it can go. The base model increases the horsepower to 500 and the top shelf model increases it to 700 horsepower. Changes in the interior as well as the suspension and brakes have also been made and improved on.
Production for the new SMS 570 Challenger will begin at the end of January with a price tag somewhere around $70,000.
