“Pretty Woman” Lotus Esprit For Sale
It is always a great thing when we get to see a little piece of history up for sale. Movie history that is! Julia Roberts and Richard Gere’s most memorable movie together was “Pretty Woman”. There were many things in that movie to love including the Lotus Esprit that Gene uses in a part of the movie.
It was during that part of the movie that he picked up Robert’s character. That is where he let her drive and gave her (us) an insight as to how the car drives and handles. Now anyone (with the right amount of money) can get their hands on this classic supercar.
This very same car is listed for sale on Hemmings for $54,998. For years it has been at the Volo Auto Museum in Volo, Illinois. It is a 1990 Lotus Esprit SE though how it was given the title year of ‘89 we have no idea.
It is equipped with a turbo four cylinder engine that gives it the ability to rev from – to 60 mph in 4.7 seconds and has a top speed of 165 mph. It is only one of the 324 Loti that were sold in the United States during 1990 and the only one that was ever used in a movie. It has 23k miles on it and comes with a genuine letter of authenticity.

Historically “Pretty Woman” was able to match or better most of its contemporary rivals’ performance in many areas, which included the Ferrari 308, 328, F355, and 360 Modena, as well as many Porsche sports cars in a production life that lasted nearly 30 years.
when i was a kid this lotus was my dream car. a “mere” 2.2 4 cylinder twin turbo, but certainly worthy of its supercar status. and that huge windscreen almost level with the bonnet – just awesome!!
i remember seeing it in one of James Bond’s installments – The Spy who loved me (?) – the underwater car.
these days it just seems so “old” and primitive, but it’ll always be a classic for me!
what it would cost if it included one night with Julia Roberts’ character from the movie.
@ #3 I doubt if you can afford it even in your dreams.
