Porsche Takes Home EVO ‘Car Of The Year’ Award

Written by tonks on November 16, 2007

Porsche 997 GT3 RSThis week we heard that EVO would be coming out with its car of the year award and we were all excited to see who they were going to choose. It came down between the Ferrari F430 Scuderia and the Porsche 997 GT3 RS and we are proud to say the Porsche took the lead, leaving Ferrari in second place.

The Porsche RS is 20kg lighter than the standard GT3 model, with the help of a carbon fibre rear wing, plastic boot lid and rear window. Further weight is shaved from the car by the way of lightweight carbon composite bucket seats. Power is provided by a naturally aspirated 3.6L engine providing a lovely 415bhp.

Some of the others that were added to their top ten list were Audi, BMW Mercedes, Lamborghini, and Honda. As happy as we are to see Porsche gets it due we were surprised to see the Honda Civic Type-R beat out the Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera. It’s a bit of a shock that Lamborghini would get passed up for a Honda. I guess this means Lamborghini should work a little harder next time.
