IED Students Design BMW 2015 Concepts

Written by tonks on July 28, 2008

BMW IED ConceptBMW will not be making and dramatic new designs for their line-up for quite a few years – but that doesn’t stop the students from the Turin-based IED (Istituto Europeo di Design) from making their own changes. Third year students from IED were asked to give their interpretation of what they think BMW’s lineup will look like in 2015.

Their designs were from scratch and gathered their inspiration and design looks from natural elements that included; the earth, sea, and wind. Eight teams were set up from thirty-five students to do the work.

Those teams conjured up, and approved, twelve proposals. Of those, eight were developed into 1:4 scale models. To ensure the quality standards of their trademark, each of the stages of development were supervised under the watchful eye of BMW execs Thomas Plath, Anders Warming, and Chris Bangle.
