The Gumball 3000 is one of the biggest world rally events that began in San Francisco August 9th and will be making its way through San Diego, and Las Vegas. When it is done with these cities in the U.S. it will make its way to China.
On the first day all the cars gathered for a first glimpse at Nob Hill in downtown California. Among the 100 or so contestants was one of the first Gumbert Apollo Sports, Max-a-million’s XJ220 and a Ferrari Enzo.
Controversy over these events has sparked rapid debate, so much so Germany has now banned any rallies on public roads. It’s obvious the support for Gumball is overwhelming and they are several degrees safer than the historic Mille Miglia or Targa Florio ever was.
