The Dodge Viper has always belonged to Chrysler and has been around since 1992. It has become a classic car and we couldn’t imagine how they would get along without it (or us for that matter). While Chrysler may be saying farewell to one of their more popular cars it looks as if there is a chance we might not have to.
Chrysler is reportedly selling the Viper’s future to a third party. Automotive News quotes Chrysler CEO Bob Nardelli saying, “We have been approached by third parties who are interested in exploring future possibilities for Viper.” Nardelli claims that whatever happens, his company will work to make sure the best interests of Viper enthusiasts and owners are served and that Chrysler would continue to offer “operational and financial” support for the car if a transaction takes place.
Naturally this is quite stunning. We are not sure whether we should be sad that the Viper will be sold and produced under another name or happy that it will still exist. Of course many people are wondering if it will actually keep the name Viper or change when it enters into the arms of new owners.
