Volkswagen Working To Release Elise In 2011
July 22nd, 2008
Volkswagen has returned to producing an affordable, lightweight, and “back to basics” mid engine coupe roadster that will be available in 2011. Sources say that Martin Winkerton - the VW chairman - will be revealing a new concept version of this coupe design during the L.A. auto show this November.
Unlike previous similar concepts, including the Concept R from 2003, this one has a good chance of seeing production. Audi is playing a part in development of the lightweight aluminum chassis for the car, fueling speculation that the sister company might envision a performance R4 off the same platform. Similarly, VW majority shareholder Porsche is said to have shown interest in the new project, opening the way for a possible resurrection of the 914.

The plant is an integral part of Volkswagen’s plan for expansion in the N.A. market, with sales expected to crest 800,000 units by 2018. The 1,350-acre site will produce 150,000 vehicles annually.

Volkswagen Reveals Concepts For The Future
July 8th, 2008
Volkswagen has made three new concepts that are unique and all for the year 2028! No we didn’t mis-type anything they really did make these futuristic concepts as their impression of what people will be driving in distant future.
The One is a single-seater car that is small and very compact. The Ego, is sporty and holds only two passengers. The VW Room is the third concept and is the ultimate family vehicle that does not require anyone to drive.
Volkswagen envisions vehicles which communicate with each other, meaning that driver involvement is kept to a minimum, traffic is a thing of the past and accidents are completely avoided.
Volkswagen W12 Concept
June 29th, 2008The Volkswagen W12 concept is equipped with a six-litre 12-cylinder engine that is mid-mounted and weighs 1,200 Kilo. It develops a maximum torque of 620 Newton metres at only 5,800 rpm and has a top speed of over 350 km/h and an acceleration speed of less than 3.5 seconds to 100 km/h.
This design study, which is systematically oriented towards top performance and high levels of driving dynamics, is the third phase of evolution of two W12 concept cars which preceded it. This sports car project is now, with its W12 engine inspired by the world of motor sports, entering the decisive phase of production development.
Volkswagen Releases Price Of 2009 Jetta TDI
June 19th, 2008
Volkswagen stated this week that the base price for the 2009 Jetta TDI will start at $21,990. The Sportwagen model will begin at $23,590. It is obvious to us that Volkswagen is using the Jetta to compete against the Toyota Prius and giving consumers more of an option.
The TDI model will be the equivalent of the SE trim level for gas-powered Jettas. A 2009 Jetta SE 2.5L manual sedan starts at $19,990, which tells us that the high-tech, 50-state-compliant clean diesel engine is worth about a $2,000 premium. The Jetta TDI will, however, be available with either a manual or DSG transmission.
