During the show they launched the Lexus LS460 AWD, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport, and the Audi RS6 sedan. Renault will also be revealing a brand new version to spice up their rather plain looking sedan.

Renault has plans to sell the new car in the markets located in Russia, Turkey, North Africa, Central and Eastern Europe. They will be naming the car as either the Thalia or the Symbol.

Of course in the process of trying to spice things up they didn’t seem to quite make it. The design of the car is still a bit drab and the mechanics underneath the hood. The power from the car is in the same range found in the new Dacia Logan.

Elegant, status-enhancing lines

New Renault Symbol is a new three-box car that boasts expressive lines and seductive appeal. The front end’s distinctive looks point to the vehicle’s outstanding on-road performance and travelling comfort. New Renault Symbol benefits from the same suspension as Clio II which is acclaimed for the quality of the balance it strikes between comfort and roadholding and the quiet ride it delivers.

New Renault Symbol has plenty of arguments in its favour to win over families in Central and Eastern Europe, Russia, Turkey and the Maghreb countries. The first public airing of the latest addition to the line-up outlined in the Renault Commitment 2009 plan will be the forthcoming Moscow Motor Show, which opens its doors on August 26.

However, in the U.S. we do things differently and our spies here were able to catch the Megane on the roads here without any camouflage and in its production ready stage. According to reports the new Megane Coupe will be officially released in its production form during the Paris show in October.

Specific details have not yet been released – but we have been told that they might be basing the new car off of the platform that is used on the Nissan G37, G35, and the brand new 370Z. The new model could be more geared towards track duty, with a serious diet and some tweaks to the drivetrain.

While the revival of Alpine is primarily a way for Renault to capitalize on its participation in F1, a Nissan-based model would all but negate such an effort. Then again, with 60 new models expected to come from Renault and Nissan in the next four years, the automaker will use any platform it can get its hands on to expand its lineup.
