Porsche No.1 To Be Center Of 2008 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance
August 8th, 2008
Many supercar enthusiasts know the Porsche No.1 as the first ‘real’ Porsche and now they will be able to get an up close look at it during the 2008 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. It is a two-seater open roadster that is equipped with a VW air-cooled, mid mounted, flat-4 engine that pushes out 40 horsepower.
Porsche had originally tried to get the car to California in 1998 for an appearance at the Monterey Historic Automobile Races, but the car was damaged in transit. The one-of-a-kind Porsche was created by Ferdinand “Ferry” Porsche “after he searched and was unable to find the car of his dreams,” according to the company.
Race Engine For Porsche Spyder To Receive Direct Injection
July 31st, 2008
Porsche has plans to upgrade the V8 3.4 liter with direct injection that is used in the current Porsche RS Spyder and the ALMS LMP2. This engine technology was first created for the Porsche 911 and Cayenne.
The technology was developed for the Porsche Cayenne and Porsche 911, and, given the performance advantages, engineers decided to back-hack it into the prototype V8. The old version of the engine turned out a stout 476 HP at 10,000 RPM along with 273 lb-ft at 7,500 rpm; the direct injection and obviously remapped fuel curve bump power to 503 HP at 10,000 RPM, and 284 lb-ft of torque at 8,500 rpm. This motor communes with hummingbirds.
Porsche 911 Targa 4 and 4S To Come To U.S. In October
July 28th, 2008
Porsche is making the new 911 Targa available in all wheel drive in the appearance of the Targa 4S and the Targa 4. These two cars will have the 911 Turbo electronic four wheel drive system and the brand new PDK dual-clutch transmission.
We are excited to see these new changes under the hood - but we are even more excited by the sliding roof - which is made out if sixteen and a half square foot of glass. The glass has been specially made to filter out UV rays from the sun and can be opened in seven seconds to help give you some fresh air when driving.
TechArt To Use Porsche 911 GT2 To Win
July 25th, 2008
In order to win the Tuner GP around the Hockenheim, TechArt knew that their only option was the Porsche 911 GT2. The fact that it is lighter gave it the ability to push aside Cargraphic, Gemballa, and others.
The winning TechArt resembled the old GTstreet package, but had minor aerodynamic tweaks, enough to call it the RS. TechArt also boosted the turbocharger to from 19 lbs to 23 lbs. This, along with some exhaust work meant that Jorg Hardt had 700 bhp to the rear wheels.

The Cayman S has been given a boost to 320 horsepower and 273 pound foot of torque with the added bonus of better fuel economy. Both models will be optional with LSD though it has not been said whether or not this will be torque or mechanical biasing. Look below for more information and specs for the two cars.
