The replacement for the Pagani Zonda is scheduled to arrive sometime next year. In order to commemorate this supercar Horacio Pagani has designed one more version. This newest version of the famous supercar – the Pagani Zonda R – was in development for 24 months and was built as a track only variant.

Only 10 of these lightweight supercars was produced and they each cost 1.4 million euro. The exterior of the Pagani Zonda R is built with carbon fiber with 10% of it coming from its predecessor. Underneath the hood is a six speed sequential gearbox and four aro spec fuel pumps that work to give the Mercedes AMG 6.0 liter V12 engine what it needs to run.

Pagani said that this engine allows the Zonda R to push out 750 horsepower at 8,000 rpm and 52 pound-ft of torque. It can rev from 0 to 60 mph in 3.2 seconds and has a top speed of 248.54 mph. A carbon fiber intake system feeds air into the engine and an “F1 style” exhaust and Inconel manifold will release hydrocarbons and keep the temperature of the engine where it should be.

Pagani has stressed to the lucky few owners that this supercar is not street legal. The very first owner of the Zonda R is scheduled to be delivered and assembled into their living room. I suppose they are taking away the temptation to drive it on the road at the highest speeds that it can offer.

The new Pagani Zonda will be replaced by the new Horacio. This new model (which is codenamed the C9) is going to be unlike anything that we have seen from Pagani. Of course in order to say their proper farewells to the Zonda, Pagani must produce the exclusive Zonda R. Only ten of these models will be in production and they will each cost €2,000,000.

The Zonda R is very similar to the design used for the Zonda F. In reality Pagani said that it only shares about 10% of the underpinnings and has been given a brand new shape that is 47mm longer and offer more down force through the use of a long splitter, rear diffuser, and wing.

Pagani released new rendering of the coupe – which is to be made out of carbon fiber. They will be equipping the new exclusive supercar with the AMG V12 6.0 liter engine that will have the ability to push out close to 750 horsepower.

There will be five road going version and the other five will be used for circuit duty. We will most likely see the debut of the Zonda R during the 2009 Geneva Motor Show.

New Pagani Factory To Open In 2010

We have reason to believe that the successor to the Pagani Zonda is already in production thanks to the spy shots have been spreading across the Internet like wildfire. AMG has already begun producing an engine that will be special and possibly even exclusive to the new supercar. In case any of you were wondering the new Pagani is being dubbed the C9.

This means that the new Zonda will have to be given the same treatment as any Mercedes and undergo a number of tests in order to prove its worth. This makes sense because we have been told that there will be a large amount of units produced. More units then any other exclusive predecessor.

In order to prepare for this new supercar Pagani is going to be opening a new factory in Modena, Italy. This is the perfect place to set up shop because it is the home country of supercars. The new factory will be three times bigger then their existing factory and will begin production in 2010. The only thing not to be produced at the new factory is the engine itself.

The 2010 Pagani Zonda F prototype was spotted testing in the U.S. In case some of you have not been able to keep up – the Zonda F was first known as the C12 – which debuted all the way back in 1999 during the Geneva Motor Show. Since that time it has been given many changes including different names.

Up front, this next-generation Zonda F will get an all-new front clip. In back, the rear quarter panels have been re-sculpted to allow for significantly increased airflow. The rear diffuser has also been redesigned and there is a totally new air scoop that sticks up from the middle of the engine cover.

This Pagani has absolutely enormous 335/30/ZR20 Pirelli P Zero Rosso tires in back and 255/35/ZR19 tires in front. Inside the wheels are equally enormous carbon ceramic brake rotors. What powerplant this supercar might be packing is a bit of a mystery. Pagani certainly wants to keep the motor a secret as the clear engine compartment panels were covered with black tape. Judging from the new, larger air intakes on this prototype, whichever motor resides under the cover obviously needs more airflow than the Mercedes AMG 7.3L V8 found in the current Zonda F.

The new car is being designed for the U.S. and Japan and should be ready for launch sometime in 2009. Although pricing is far from official, expect an MSRP of at least $650,000. Because of high demand, Pagani will also boost production to 60 cars a year, up from its current annual production of 16 units.

Pagani Zonda And Mercedes SL65 AMG Spotted Testing Together

A spy shot of two test mules described as the Pagani Zonda and Mercedes SL65 AMG Black Series has surfaced all across the web and many of us are wondering why the two are testing together. The only obvious answer is that they both share the same powerful engine stored underneath their hoods.

While that may be the case, it could be a simple instance of AMG doubling-up on their test time, since Pagani renewed its engine deal with the Mercedes tuning house. Previous reports suggested that the supercharged V8 from the outgoing SLR McLaren could be flipped around for duty in the next-gen Zonda, however the SL65 Black uses a much larger 600hp twin-turbo V12.

The Pagani Zonda R was made to be driving around the racetrack with the ultimate performance and not bound by any rules. The only rules they wish to follow are those of safety -which could never and should never be crossed.

The drawings for the Zonda R were first designed and ready in September of 2006. Designers sought hard to seek the approval of Mercedes-AMG to supply them with a powerful engine. The engine was indeed built by the racing specialists at Mercedes AMG, where the championship winning DTM cars are born, as well as the CLK GTR, probably the most devastating and effective weapon ever to compete in the GT series. From it’s engine the Zonda R borrows the basic architecture including an ingenious dry sump allowing a low centre of gravity.

This self-supporting engine with 750 bhp at 8000 rpm and 425 lb-ft of torque carries a lightweight carbon-fiber high-performance intake system, a racing multiple disc sintered clutch and Formula 1 style exhaust system, hydroformed in Inconel 625 and ceramic coated for optimal heat dissipation. The power unit combined with a 6 speed transversal manual sequential synchronized gearbox is designed to satisfy the most ambitious drivers.

The central carbon chassis will incorporate a roll cage and a rubber racing fuel tank with 4 fuel pumps and quick refuel filler like on GT race cars. The wheelbase has been increased by 2 inches to offer the best stability. The front and rear subframes are brand-new, built to accommodate a new suspension geometry, produced in avional. The magnesium forged rims with central wheel nut and a quick pneumatic lifting system allows fast and effortless changes of the slick tires.

The Pagani customers who have ordered the Zonda R will be relieved of almost $1,6 million – which includes taxes.

Pagani Zonda F Becomes ‘King Of The Road’

Any supercar that can drive around the infamous Nurburgring Nordschleife will become a legend but only one will hold the top title - fastest production car. This title will give the supercar fame and recognition - that is until someone comes and knocks it down.

The Pagani Zonda F, named after F1 driver Juan Manuel Fangio, is a supercar that has taken this record to new heights and set a new laprecord for Supersportcars at the famous Nürburgring Nordschleife race track. The Pagani Zonda F Clubsport has shaved nearly two tenths of a second off the Carrera GT’s time to post a sizzling lap in 7:27:82. It may not sound like much of a margin, but when you’re in the stratosphere, every inch counts.

For those of you not familiar with the Zonda it is made up of more carbon fiber than most Formula 1 cars. The Zonda F has proven it’s the ultimate race car for the street. Statistics like 1.5G lateral acceleration – thanks to its massive downforce generation, a 7.3L V12, and 2700 man-hours to complete construction. This supercar sprints through the 0-62 mph mark in a staggering 3.5 seconds, has a top speed over 214 mph (possibly 220+ with a downforce adjustment).

But all that work was worth it in the end when it became the fastest production supercar. Maybe we can even get our hands on it ourselves and take it for a test drive. Maybe then we could be ‘King Of The Road’. That’ gonna be tough though, as only 25 Zonda F cars were slated to be built, still not US compatible.
