Close Look At McLaren MP4-12C

Only last night McLaren released high resolution shots of their new MP4-12C supercar. This newest one was designed with a very light carbon fiber tub that uses one piece that weighs only 176 pounds. This is different from most automakers who use multiple pieces. Carbon fiber and composites are also used to build the body panels – which is what makes it more expensive then other models in its class.

The price take has been set for $265k! This is more than the all new Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 and the Ferrari 458 Italia – but then again it is lighter then the both of them. Underneath the hood is a 3.8 liter twin turbo V8 that is able to push out 600 horsepower and 433 pound-ft of torque. It also has the ability to accelerate from 0-60 mph in the low threes and has a top speed of more then 200 mph.

Most would assume that it was built with the usual carbon ceramic brakes – but they have decided to use their standard discs – which are said to weigh less. These are connected and work together with the Brake Steer system that helps to brake the inside rear wheel and to fight off combat under steer from occurring. It is also equipped with a seven speed dual clutch transmission.

McLaren has plans to produce 1,000 units of this supercar in 2011. A portion of these will be in the US and the remaining will go to the UK. To go along with the coupe we have heard that there will be a roadster version.

When the McLaren-Mercedes team first showed off their unique chrome F1 cars people loved it and it gave them a great idea. What if they were to chrome their own supercars and make them look even more spectacular?

An owner of a McLaren SLR did just this. A chrome McLaren was seen outside the Mall of the Emirates – the world’s largest shopping center – in Dubai. This isn’t the first time that we have seen supercars turned into something extravagant. A few months back we spotted a gold trimmed Camry that was owned by someone in the United Arab Emirates.

It used to be that people would show off their personality through their cars by the floor mats they chose and the dice that hung from their mirrors. Now they are painting the outside of their cars and covering it in precious metals! We wonder which supercar will be the next to receive the chrome makeover.

If you are looking for a cool car that is made of pure pleasure and luxury that just takes your mind away from everything then you will be pleased with the new Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren 722 S Roadster. The newest car that was revealed and shown off at the Paris Motor Show today took our breathe away.

Inside is pure luxury and is all about inviting you to sit in the comfortable leather seat and let your cares go. You can’t help but gaze out into the distance and let your mind drift to happier days. Ok so we might be over doing it a bit – but it really is something that can take your breathe away and that is when the car is off.

It delivers 478 kW/650 hp, acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds and a maximum speed of 335 km/h. The two-seater has a fully retractable folding soft top that is able to withstand high speeds thanks to the carbon fiber material it is made out of. It is also equipped with a degree of safety and high torsional stiffness.

More power is not the only new addition to this supercar. It also features dynamic suspension tuning and improved aerodynamics. This provides drivers with the great handling and performance – which only adds to the luxury of the car and makes you automatically want to own the road and have it all to yourself.

In 2009 we will say farewell to the McLaren SLR model. It is a sad parting – but in the end something that is inevitable. With that fact in mind Mercedes has plans for a new model that will be better and more advanced than all of the previous ones put together.

The new SLR 722 S Roadster will be powered by the 5.5 liter V8 engine – which can push out 650 horsepower. The supercar can reach a top speed of 220.6 mph – which might just be the fastest open top production car that has been produced. Mercedes has also created a soft top that has the ability to more then 200 mph top speeds.

They were able to take advantage of the McLaren’s F1 experience to produce a fully carbon-fiber body that has the ability to provide the structural integrity that is needed for high speeds like this. All that needs to be done is to unlatch the semi-automatic top from the windshield header manually. Only 150 examples of the 722 S Roadster will be made available starting Jan. 1 2009.

McLaren Redesigns Look Of P11 Supercar

McLaren was not happy with the designs for the P11 supercar and have told the team to take scratch the whole thing and to start fresh and with a whole new look. The new styling sheif will be Frank Stephenson who has designed cars for Fiat, Ferrari, Mini, and BMW.

Stephenson will join McLaren to redesign the family of supercars that McLaren plans to put into production in 2009. “The basic engineering layout is fixed, but the styling is still open,” said one source.

Stephenson will also get the chance to design a rumoured open-top version of the P11 and a GTR race version. The latter may be powered by a 600bhp-plus V10. Both the open-top and GTR models are expected to be rolled out in subsequent launch years. The lightweight and more powerful GTR version of McLaren’s iconic F1 was the second best-selling variant. In an eventual total production run of 107 F1s, 64 were customer road cars and 28 were GTR racers.

Spy Shots Of New McLaren Roadster?

New spy shots have hit the internet displaying what looks to be a 722 Roadster from McLaren. The car was not camouflaged and has similarities to the 722 edition coupe. It was equipped with the dark grey 19” forged alloys that hide red brake calipers, a carbon fiber lip spoiler, and taillight clusters that have been darkened.

The convertible can be expected to carry the same 650-hp supercharged V8 as the 722 coupe, only with the nifty hard-soft top from the roadster. By the state of readiness evident from these spy shots, we’d venture that the 722 Roadster will appear before the Speedster.

McLaren SLR Speedster Out For A Test Run

More spy shots were taken of the McLaren SLR Speedster while under wraps. It looks as if McLaren decided to take it for a spin on the Nordschleife for a few tests.

The new car is reported to be lighter and more powerful then that standard SLR and SLR Roadster. This means that it could reach a top speed of 220 mph. Anyone looking for a fast car need to look no further.

The car is rumored to be revealed at the end of this month and you can bet that we will have all the details and pictures when it happens.

Mercedes SLR Speedster Spied

The Mercedes SLR Speedster was spied on the roads and it looks as if it will be one of the best SLR supercars that Mercedes has produced. It will also be one of the last road cars between Mercedes and McClaren.

The new SLR Speedster is a roofless, windscreen-less chop top that’s 200kg lighter than the standard SLR, accelerates from 0-180mph in 26 seconds and tops out at an incredible 218mph. Mercedes has cut as much weight from the standard SLR as possible, ditching its air conditioning system and using more carbon fibre in construction. It will also get carbon ceramic brakes a new track-derived exhaust system.

Only 75 SLR Speedsters will be built and most are expected to end up in the Middle East. It won’t be sold in America because of the country’s increasingly emissions regulations.

Mansory McLaren SLR Renovatio

Mansory decided to add yet another popular supercar to their collection of works with the new McLaren SLR Renovatio – which is based off the popular Mercedes-Benz car. It has been given replacement carbon fiber pieces, a new body kit, and lighter wheels.

Mansory has also upgraded the intercoolers as well as the supercharger. The new Renovatio was designed to improve upon the efficiency of aerodynamics. The body components were made out of carbon fiber in order to lighten the weight of the car.

The 5.5 liter V8 engine with its standard 626 hp benefited from the new changes. The Mansory engineers used new high performance compressors and tailor-made intercoolers. The finishing touches are a sports air filter and modified engine management. As a result the Renovatio is two tenths faster from zero to 100 km/h than the super sports car production model. The top speed increases to 340 kph. Following the alterations the Renovatio has 700 HP and generates 880 Nm torque on the crankshaft.

Mansory provides a special wheel-tire combination for the Renovatio. The one-piece turbine-wheels with five double-spokes, 9 x 20 at the front and 11.5 x 20 at the rear, are impressive for their sporting looks as well as their outstanding workmanship. The reduction of the unsprung mass due to the especially light forged wheels improves braking distance, acceleration and handling.

The leather processed for the interior by master craftsmen is extraordinarily soft. This characteristic natural product with its special grain and the perfect craftsmanship of its fancy stitching convey an exquisite flair around the redesigned sports steering wheel. The aluminum pedals, illuminated door tread plates and real carbon applications complete the luxurious overall look of the Renovatio.

Mercedes has decided to make up for the failure of the SLR McLaren. When they first released the McLaren they had hoped that it would be something that consumers would want to get their hands on right away. While the design of the car is very tempting and unique in its own right it is the power that has everyone so disappointed. The lack of power and the high price tag made it very unappealing.

Luckily Mercedes has learned its lesson and has done the necessary improvements for the new Black Series version of the SL65 AMG. The new Black Series AMG has been designed to handle more power with less weight attached to it. This is a very common formula that many automakers have used and it has worked successfully in the past. The Ferrari 430 Suderia is an excellent example of this.

Mercedes will be replacing most of the body panels – which means that even the roof mechanism will be gone because of its heavy weight. Mercedes is promising us an even faster ride that will be better than the SLR McLaren and even more affordable. Yet, this is not the replacement car for the SLR. Mercedes is preparing an even better car for that called the SLC.
