Mazda Reveals Details On 2009 MX-5

Pictures and details have been released for the 2009 Mazda MX-5. The pictures show a soft and hard top model of the roadster. On these models we can clearly see that the front end has been remodeled and it looks like they took a few design cues from the RX-8. You can also see a redesigned rear bumper and new taillights have been added.

The MX-5 is powered by either the 160 horsepower 2.0 liter or the 126 horsepower 1.8 liter engine. The 2.0 liter features valve and pistons springs that have been replaced with lower friction parts and an intake that has been remodeled to help provide more of an increase in power.

The six-speed manual is standard and is equipped with new synchronizers that help to smooth shifts. In Europe a six-speed auto box with manumatic shifting will be available for the very first time. The front suspension has been changed to provide more feedback through the steering wheel and the low-rolling resistance tires have been fitted with traction control and fitted at all four corners.

Both the soft and hard top models feature a new layer of sound insulation that help to reduce wind noise and allow passengers to enjoy the sweet sound from the Bose stereo and the Bluetooth system. There is also an auxiliary jack for MP3 players for those who have their own music preferences.

The 2009 MX-5 will be debuting this week during the Paris Motor Show.

Mazda Reveals Kazamai Concept

Mazda finally revealed the very unique Kazamai concept during the Moscow Motor Show and they made sure that all eyes were on them when it happened. During the revealing they had four sets of dancers. The men wore neon pink shorts and roller skates and they had a Russian singing troop wearing Soviet-style dress.

Despite the strange theatrics, the Kazamai is one of our favorite Nagare-themed concepts since the Furai and Kabura. The Kazamai blends the “flow” theme we’ve seen on several other concepts with a more aerodynamic body and a slightly toned-down demeanor.

Many people think that this could be something that we could expect to see in the future in the form of the CX-7 – but until that news is confirmed we’ll never really know. You can bet that we’ll be there when or if the production version is announced.

Mazda Releases Pictures Of Kazami Concept

Mazda has pulled the curtains on the new Kazamai concept and has finally given us a peek before it is officially debuted August 26 at the Moscow International Auto Salon.

“Kazamai” in Japanese means “swirling crosswinds”. To us it is a CUV that uses the similar design from the “Nagare” concept.

Consumers are now questioning whether or not the newly designed CUV will be along the same line as the CX-9 and CX-7. As for us we hope that nothing changes between now and the official unveiling.

Mazda Will Be Releasing RX-8 To UK In August

Mazda will be releasing the new RX-8 (also known as the R3) in the UK in August of this year. The RX-8 has been designed with an improved rotary engine that allows it to produce a maximum 228bhp. The new features that it has been built with include, a variable rev limit – that allows the car to rev to 9000rpm before it reaches the normal operating temperature, better lubrication, and a knock sensor system.

Mazda says the bodyshell is now stiffer than before, while the suspension has been reworked to improve ride quality and reduce road noise. The car’s shape is basically unchanged, but there have been several modifications to help the aerodynamic performance (specifically reducing lift) and to give the RX-8 a more sporty look.

It will cost £24,995, and there are no extras – 19″ alloy wheels, Recaro front seats, cruise control, automatic headlights and wipers, a Bluetooth mobile phone system and BOSE premium audio are all part of the standard package.

Mazda Takes New Concept To Moscow

Moscow’s International Auto Salon Mazda will be the host for the newest concept from Mazda in August. The last concept that they had designed was the Nagare “flow” design theme. This newest compact crossover SUV concept is called “crosswinds” and will be premiered in Moscow.

The concept will be designed specifically for the Russian market and will be one of European’s fastest growing models. It will be placed on display during the show starting August 29th through September 7th.

Mazda Releases Details On New Furai, Nagare Concept

Mazda is going to make the 2008 Detroit Auto Show something that car enthusiasts will never forget as they drool over the brand new and advanced concepts that they will be showing off. The Japanese automaker has decided to take the world by storm and begin the new era of sports cars with their new Furai or Nagare concept.

You might remember that we posted an article on the Nagare concept when we first heard news of it last year. Ford’s Japanese affiliate have released few details on the Furai (“sound of the wind”), but did say it would use the Courage C65 racecar chassis that Mazda campaigned in the 2005 American Le Mans Series, as well as that vehicle’s 450-horsepower three-rotor rotary engine. The Furai concept is designed to run on 100-percent ethanol (E100).

Says Franz von Holzhausen, Mazda’s North American director of design, “Furai purposely blurs boundaries that have traditionally distinguished street cars from track cars. Historically, there has been a gap between single-purpose racecars and street-legal models — commonly called supercars — that emulate the real racers on the road. Furai bridges that gap like no car has ever done before.”

Mazda’s Amazing Taiki Concept

I love to come across a car that just stops me right in my tracks, gets me all excited, and when I come to my senses makes I wonder who came up with something so brilliant. Of course who would come up with something this unique other than Mazda? They have been showing amazing and unusual concepts all year – but this is their best one yet.

The Mazda Taiki is one of the many slick concept cars that will grace the 2007 Tokyo Motor Show floor. It’s built for speed and minimal eco-impact and may very well find itself on the racetracks of tomorrow. Aesthetically, the Taiki’s dramatic, windswept curves are supposed to impart the movement of air around the vehicle as it zips along.

Technologies introduced for the Mazda Taiki include the next-generation RENESIS (rotary engine 16X), which sets new standards for environmental and driving performance, a front-engine rear-drive layout, a unique 2-seat configuration, and Mazda’s rotary sports package, which conveys an image of lightness. The effect integrates the design theme perfectly to realize outstanding aerodynamic performance.

This brilliant design was inspired by the Hagoromo – flowing robes that enable a celestial maiden to fly in Japanese legend – floating down from the sky. The notion of creating an Air-tube became the concept word for the interior design.

In accordance, from the dashboard and seats down to the door trim, the interior space creates the dynamic sensation that the flow of the wind is being visually depicted. Centering around the performance rotary engine sports packaging that is synonymous with the Mazda name.

Whether or not this csuperar will make it to production hasn’t been established yet – but you can bet that we will all jump at the chance of test driving this thing if it does. This is one futuristic car that everyone will want to get their hands on.
