Maserati Reveals MC Sport Line Customization Program

We were not surprised to see that Maserati would have its very own One To One Personalization Program very similar to what its sibling brand – Ferrari – has. They revealed their new MC Sport Line this week during the Bologna Motor Show. They are hoping that this new program will be able to boost the popularity of the sportiness that many of their cars have.

Owners of the GranTurismo S will have the ability to begin ordering certain parts from the new line starting in early 2009. These parts will include; rear and front carbon fiber spoilers, CF door handles, side skirts, gloss black 20” wheels, and carbon fiber mirror housings. On the inside of the supercar there are door sills that have been monogrammed with the “MC Sport Line” that are of course built out of carbon fiber.

All of these parts are weighing less then the non CF parts that they have decided to replace. The new supercar also has help from added aerodynamics, new spoilers, and functional hardware that comes from the factory. The new hardware comes with a new suspension that helps to stiffen the springs and lowers the GranTurismo S by 10mm.

Smaller Convertible Maserati Gran Turismo On The Way

New rumors state that Maserati is working in creating a hard-top convertible. We do know that they are in the middle of developing a convertible version of the larger Grantors – but these new reports suggest that the car – that was caught on tape – is smaller then what was previously thought.

The new model is supposedly going to be available only in the hard-top convertible form. If this is true then it’s safe to say it will come with a fast-action retractable roof that is lighter than the usual soft-top mechanism.

The new small Maserati is expected to have a 2+2 cabin layout, although the rear seats are anticipated to be removable. Power is tipped to come from a smaller version of the 4.2-liter V8 in the base GranTurismo, producing about 350hp and driving the rear wheels through a revised version of the DuoSelect clutchless manual transmission still used in the GranTurismo S instead of the newer ZF six-speed auto in the rest of the Maserati range.

Maserati Gran Turismo Spyder Caught In Modena

Automakers are always trying to keep new concepts under wraps and out of the public eye so as to surprise them when the final product is finished and revealed. Unfortunately Maserati seemed to have forgotten the general rules and left the new Gran Turismo Spyder all on its lonesome in Modena.

A tourists walking by managed to spot the supercar and took pictures that showed off the two-piece roof and the trunk of the car – which looks to still be in the early stages of development.

You can expect the Gran Turismo Spyder to make its debut in Paris later this year, with sales beginning in early 2009.

Maserati MC12 Corsa For Sale

The Maserati MC12 will be campaigning in the FIA GT Championship. They entered the championship by fabricating and offering 50 of their vehicles to the public. The MC12 was faster then most cars – but even with this type of speed many consumers were not content and wanted more.

So Modena rolled out 12 examples of the MC12 Corsa (a.k.a. Versione Corse) to satisfy the needs of its most loyal, track-obsessed clients. Based closely on the GT1 racing version, the MC12 Corsa packs a mammoth 6-liter V12 producing 744 horsepower – 121 more than the roadgoing supercar. The Versione Corse compared to the Ferrari FXX: both of them were based on the Ferrari Enzo, both were offered in limited numbers, both were maintained for their best clients by the factory, and most importantly, neither were certified for road use.

However, one German customer managed to get his MC12 Corsa certified for street use, and that solitary example is now up for sale. Illustrating the point that depreciation does not apply to the top echelons of the supercar market, the minimum bid on this unique MC12 Corsa is 1.45 million euros – 45% higher than the original sale price from the factory, and it’s sure to sell for more than that when the hammer finally drops.

2005 Maserati Loses Control

It’s great to have a cool car that you can drive around in and show off to everyone – but even we know that you can take that too far. The Arlington police stated that at three in the morning a 2005 Maserati was driving down Arlington Boulevard at 100 mph.

The car lost control and crossed the median into the eastbound lanes when it hit a guard rail and then a tree. Police said that it proceeded to flip over multiple times before finally stopping.

Police said the two occupants of the vehicle walked away from the wreck. They later were located by officers at Inova Alexandria Hospital. The driver of the vehicle, a 27-year-old Falls Church man, was arrested and charged with felony hit-and-run.

Maserati Testing New Coupe-Cabrio Model

Many have seen what looks to be the prototypes for the next Maserati model – which will use the platform of a coupe-cabrio. It was first spotted testing a year ago – but was well hidden away and has only just recently surfaced. The car is back in the testing stage – but it still looks as if it needs a lot of work done to it.

It was last seen on testing on the Nurburgring track in Germany – which is proof enough that they are still working on it and haven’t scraped the project.

Styling of the new car will be similar to the GranTurismo as the spy photos suggest, the key difference being a significantly shorter wheelbase. The first production model should appear late next year or in early 2010, but before then Maserati is expected to launch the convertible version of the current GranTurismo.

It will be equipped with a 302kW V8 4.2 liter engine and a six-speed ZF automatic transmission with the standard equipment.

The 2009 Maserati Quattroporte will be displayed in Europe next week where many people will have a chance to get a better look at the newest sports car that has been revealed under the Maserati marque.

However, not all of us want to wait that long to take a look at the elegant and slender car -which is why we have so graciously provided some pictures of the exterior of the car. We may not know all of the hidden details that lie beneath the hood and how well it drives – but we do know that it looks great enough to buy. Without the test drive. To give you a better look we have provided a video that shows everything.

Salon Privé Ladies’ Day Hosted By Maserati

Maserati hosted an event catered only to the ladies that was hosted at the exclusive Hurlingham Club in London. The event – the Salon Privé Ladies’ Day was headlined by one of the world’s most famous supermodel Joie Kidd and the Fifth Gear presenter Vicki Butler-Henderson.

The event included an exclusive fashion preview at Maria Grachvogels Sloane Street store followed by a private viewing of the high-performance S versions of both the GranTurismo and new Quattroporte. Funds raised went towards the Prince’s Trust.

Maserati GranTurismo S Arrives In Dubai

Bahrain was happy to be the host of Maserati’s fastest sports car. The brand new GranTurismo S was revealed during a press conference at the Euro Motors showroom in Sitra. There Paul Yates – the general manager and Africa Jade Zantout – sales manager for the Dubai location – introduced the model to potential owners and the media.

The Italian sports car has 4.7-litre engine that boasts 440hp, helping it power from 0-100kmph in less than five seconds and reach a top speed of 295kmph. The shape and style is almost identical to previous models, but it incorporates host of technological upgrades, including an electro-actuated six-speed gearbox that enables gear changes to be made in milliseconds.

A dual-cast braking disc technology system has been developed to ensure optimum safety and avoid brake fade, common during regular use in hot weather conditions. A special sporty exhaust system has also been fitted to emphasise the “burbling” sound of the V8 engine, while its 20-inch alloy wheels are sure to turn heads.

The car is also packed with a host of electronic devices, including cruise control, a multi-media system with seven-inch dashboard screen. Buyers will have to part with more than BD50,000 to own the car and due to its exclusivity the dealership is only expecting five to be sold in the next year.

2008 Quattroporte Sport GT S Comes To Frankfurt Auto Show

Along with all the other great cars that will be featured at the Frankfurt Auto Show is the long awaited Maserati Quattroporte Sport GT S. This new sports car is the ultimate experience for any Maserati lover complete with a sporty edge and great handling for those high speeds.

This result was obtained with the introduction of new suspension layout, featuring single rate dampers and a “racing” set up. The Quattroporte Sport GT S sits 10mm lower at the front and 25mm at the rear compared to other versions of the Quattroporte, and also features new, stiffer springs and dampers.

The Quattroporte Sport GT S`s new braking system also benefits from new mono-block, six-piston callipers at the front and tyres developed especially for this car (front 245/35-R20 and rear 295/30-R20). The increased size of the rear tyres allows optimum use of the Maserati`s V8 power, whilst the new tyre compound helps the brakes and set-up to guarantee a superior level of handling and driving emotion.

The exterior of the Quattroporte Sport GT S has a distinctive and assertive look. The black chrome mesh grille is an element that distinguishes this sporting version of the Maserati Quattroporte. This design cue is echoed by the black coloured window frames and twin exhaust pipes and by the body coloured door handles.

Even the choice of material for the interior of the Quattroporte Sport GT S reflects the car`s sporty character. Traditional Poltrona Frau leather has been combined with Alcantara, which covers the central zone of the seats, the interior door panels and the steering wheel. Maserati has previously used Alcantara for the interior of the Trofeo cars and the MC12.

The Quattroporte Sport GT S boasts a unique braking system developed in collaboration with Brembo. This innovative technology uses composite cross-drilled discs, the first time such a set up has been employed on a road car.
