Lotus is synonymous with racing at the highest levels of motorsport; with the company having made its name by winning races with the likes of Jim Clark, Mario Andretti and Ayrton Senna. This association helped the company become very successful in the road car market during this period.
Things started to go awry following the death of founder Colin Chapman in 1982 and the company’s reputation for high performance innovation inspired by motorsport participation gently evaporated.
Lotus Evora Race Edition
A week ago Lotus delivered the Evora to the very first customer. They didn’t wait long to reveal the new race ready version of the new supercar – which has been called the Type 124 Evora. This is produced to the racing specifications for the FIA GT and it will officially be debuted next year during the Nürburgring 24 hour race.

It is always a great thing when we get to see a little piece of history up for sale. Movie history that is! Julia Roberts and Richard Gere’s most memorable movie together was “Pretty Woman”. There were many things in that movie to love including the Lotus Esprit that Gene uses in a part of the movie.
2009 Lotus Exige Cup 260
Lotus has released their Exige Cup 260 for the 2008 model year – which they will use to win races around the world. For 2009 Lotus has dropped the weight by more then 80 pounds this year to just under a ton due to the use of carbon fiber.
Abarth And Lotus Working Towards Sports Car For 2011
Rumor has it that Abarth has worked on a top secret deal with Lotus to use the new Elise to underpin a stand alone sports car. This will be the first one in almost 30 years. The details are still quite hazy – but what we do know is that it will be equipped with a mid mounted engine.
