Infiniti Working On Nissan Spin-Off?

July 28th, 2008

InfinitiThe Japanese magazine CarTop believes that Infiniti is in the midst of producing a brand new range of sedans that will be based on the 2009 Nissan GT-R. If their sources are right then it will go on sale in 2011.

According to CarTop, the 2011 Infiniti GT-R would use a stretched version of the GT-R’s chassis, complete with its whiz-bang AWD system, a tuned version of the 3.8-liter twin-turbo V6 producing nearly 500 HP, and share the same Xtronic CVT. Pricing would be about 20% higher, bringing the sedan in at around $85,000 (before speculation) on this side of the Pacific.

Infiniti EX-Series Hits 2008 Top List For J.D. Powers

June 18th, 2008

Infiniti EX35The brand new Infiniti cars have managed to grab the top awards from J.D. Powers in 2008. They managed to outperform most of the other competition in the quality reports. The entry premium autos awarded top place was made up of the Infiniti Ex35 and the QX56. The two models seem to be selling with no problems despite the gas prices.

The all-new 2008 Infiniti EX35 is reported by J.D. Powers as a slightly smaller sibling to Infiniti’s other crossover SUV, the Infiniti FX. Continuing the “non-truck” theme, the EX35 offers sleek, stylish and bold styling over Nissan’s familiar FM-platform and Infiniti G35. The compact EX35 offers a 6-cylinder power train, a choice of drivelines, and an array of late-model technology.

Lancia Fulvia Coupe Concept Making A Comeback

June 8th, 2008

Lancia FulviaThe Lancia Fulvia Coupe concept made its debut during the Frankfurt Motor Show and made a big hit. The concept was killed off by Fiat when they realized they were not going to be able to afford to produce it. We are excited to see that it is finally coming back.

It seems that plans for a new coupe carrying the Lancia badge is resurgent inside Fiat, though the clearly retro styling of the 2003 concept will likely fall by the wayside instead of getting mired in a retro rut. It’s rumored that we’ll see a Fulvia riding atop the MiTo’s chassis at this year’s Paris Motor Show. Rather than relying on the work of 40 years past, the new Fulvia will share nothing but a name with its predecessor.
