Lexus LF-Ch Concept Debuts At The 09 LA Auto Show

Lexus is known as a world leader in premium luxury hybrids market ever since 2005 when it came out with the RX 400h. But now has decided to diversify just a little bit with its new concept car the Lexus LF-Ch Compact Hybrid that has already been seen at the Frankfurt Auto Show on September 15, 2009 but will make its North American debut in December at that 2009 Los Angles Auto Show.

Many who have seen this car think it is a bit strange that Toyota would call this car a Lexus with the five door body type and style it has. This car concept was designed by Toyota’s North American research group located in Newport Beach California – Calty Design Research Inc. Toyota feels that there is a market here that might appeal to younger urban green conscious car buyers. They have not released much about the cars mechanical specs yet waiting for the 09 Auto Show to do that – but has released plenty about the cars interior features and style details.

The first styling feature you might notice about this luxury hybrid is that it is a sedan but looks just like a coup. They did this by hiding the rear door handles in the chrome molding and blacking out the B pillar. It has domineering grille and a wide front bumper with an air dam to make this car have a stronger look. Like most hybrids it comes with LED headlamps and tail lights and hybrid side badging.

On the inside of this Lexus LF-Ch Concept there is mixture leather and metal trims giving it that elegant luxury look. Comes with a wide griped steering wheel that has integrated paddle shifters this keeps the interior looking sporty along with the instrument panel that has big twin dials that have a beautiful turbine blade design. The interior roof has a nifty blue headliner bordering it. Toyota is hoping this more diverse compact luxury hybrid will catch the eye of the younger urban green conscious car market.

The Fastest, The Furthest And Everything In Between

We posted this on our Ferrari blog, but figured it was worth a post over here as well. Sure, it’s a commercial – but it’s cool and thus we’re gonna regurgitate on CSC. In case you’ve been under a rock for the last few years, Shell holds an annual Eco-marathon challenge that organizes some of the world’s most intelligent designers to build cars that go a very long way on a very little amount of fuel.

It’s done in partnership with Ferrari, and is great for the environment, F1 racing and the world in general. It’s great for car companies, because they’ll find new ideas and more paths to innovation. It’s great for mother nature and those global warming activists. They call it ‘the fastest, furthest and everything in between‘

This is perhaps the coolest Shell ‘commercial’ we’ve ever seen, and it clearly demonstrates Shell’s commitment to hosting the annual Eco-marathon challenge. This event highlights Shell’s technical partnership with Ferrari and brings many of the world’s smartest people together to design vehicles that run farther than ever, on the smallest amount of fuel.

Follow along as Shell’s involvement with the fastest, furthest and everything in between, clearly a fitting title. Did you know that one of these cars went 3,300 kilometers on the equivelant of 1 liter of fuel? That’s friggen amazing. Enjoy the video.

Prodigy P6 From Scorpion Motorsports

Every year newer and more powerful cars are being created and it can be difficult to keep up with them all. But every now and than we luck out on something truly extraordinary and are given the pleasure of learning about it fast so we can spread the word to all of our loyal readers.

Scorpion Motorsports is an automotive design company that offers consumers and can enthusiasts the highest quality supercars at an affordable cost. The cars that they design, produce, and market are known to have some of the highest performance with their US Street legal packages.

A source has informed us that Scorpion Motorsports has just released their new Prodigy P6. As you can see from the picture provided the vehicle itself is built with three wheels and therefore has been registered as a motorcycle – but don’t let the looks deceive you. The vehicle has been designed to be driven exactly like a car and as such has been built with the standard steering wheel and set of three pedals.

The Prodigy P6 has been designed with a hot rod red color and with that kind of color you can only begin to imagine the kind of power that lurks beneath it. It is equipped with an engine taken from the 2002-2005 GSXR 600s. This gives it the ability to push out 125 horsepower and rev from 0 to 60 in 3.3 seconds.

Scorpion Motorsports ensures that each model they produce is up to par during the testing stage. The Prodigy P6 can be yours for only $39,900. If you pay extra you can customize your own model and order a model that has a zero miles crate motor. Thanks for the tip Mark!

Aston Martin To Debut New Variants In Geneva

Aston Martin is known for their high quality and high powered cars that they have rolled out of production. The most common models that they have created so far include the DB9 and the Vantage. Soon the One-77 and Rapide will join the ranks of the powerful Aston Martin fan club. But things won’t stop there.

If sources are correct the automaker has made plans to reveal new variants of the DB9 and Vantage during the Geneva Motor Show. One of the variants will be a convertible model version of the DBS. This is a smart move on Aston Martin’s part and hopefully it will come just in time for summer.

Next up on the agenda is the production V2 Vantage RS. This model is supposed to be built with a V12 engine from the V8 Vantage that can push out 600 horsepower. It may even be built with spoilers, louvers, and carbon fiber. We hope to have more details and some pictures when they arrive at the Geneva Auto Show.

GM Waiting To Produce Cadillac Converj Concept

GM is leading us to believe that the unusual and rather unique Cadillac Converj Concept will move to production. The only thing that is holding them back is the issue of money – which we all know by now, is something they have been struggling with for some time now. They said that when they overcome this problem there is only one more to tackle. A problem that they have already started working on.

Engineers and GM officials have been trying to decide whether or not this concept should be produced with two or four doors. If they plan to make a large amount of these cool cars and a decent amount of money from them then they would be wise to use four doors. Many consumers won’t even consider a car that has two doors because it lacks the room and accessibility they need and want.

GM said that the production version will be closer to that of the new Camaro model. Many consumers would love to have four doors on a car that had the perfect amount of power. It is every buyer’s dream car. There is only one more question that needs to be answered. How much will it be?

No official price has been set yet – but GM is hoping that it will be around $40,000. This does not include the premium brand and the additional luxury features that consumers can choose. These of course would increase the price.

2010 E-Class Pictures Revealed

More images have been released on the Internet (or should we say leaked) of the final production of the up and coming 2010 Mercedes-Benz E-Class. Mercedes will be officially revealing the model during the 2009 Geneva Motor Show in March.

The picture gives us a clear view of the front of the new E-Class – which seems to have been greatly influenced by the Mercedes ConceptFascination that debuted earlier this year during the Paris Motor Show. They have removed the quad, round headlamps and replaced them with brand new light fixtures. We prefer the replacements because they give the car a more modern look and a smooth design.

The strips of LED’s are set as fog lights and placed in the outermost intakes of the lower front bumper. We are beginning to think that this is going to become a trend because Porsche and Audi have used this similar design in many of their models.

We assume that the new 2010 E-Class will have more advanced safety, performance, and entertainment capabilities than its current model. We have heard that it will be able to read road signs, allow drivers to see in the dark without using lights, and monitor how tired the driver is. In the U.S. we an expect to see the V6, V8, and AMG models.

Will Toyota Take Over Corvette Brand?

This year is a year for change and we aren’t just referring to the historical election. The gas prices soared to their highest and then in a dramatic turn they dropped just as quickly reaching below $2 (much to everyone’s surprise). But the economy is still suffering and even the three largest automakers Ford, Chevy, and General Motors are feeling the effects. So much so that they are asking for a bailout from the American government and looking at ways to consolidate and rid themselves of cars that are not generating any profit for them.

None of us want to see GM shut down its doors and say farewell to the many great cars that they have produced. But we have to admit that for many years now they have been suffering due not only to the economy but also poor management. But again we can’t deny that there have been some great cars to roll out of their garage from time to time. One of the most famous being the Corvette.

The Corvette has become an icon to Americans and has been able to provide many consumers a chance to experience world class performance for an affordable price. So now people are asking themselves what will happen to the Corvette if GM were to fold?

We aren’t the only ones thinking about this. Many forum members that GM Inside are discussing this very topic and have come up with a few ideas. One of the more popular being that Toyota could take over the brand. We admit that it is an interesting idea – but one that we don’t think would help to improve the brand. As much as we appreciate Toyota we feel that their expertise does not lie with this very iconic and well deserved sports car. Do you think Toyota is a good choice or is there someone more worthy to take over?

BMW Releases Teaser Video Of New 3-Series

When it comes to new models and concepts we are always ready for anything that is thrown our way. That is why we jumped at the chance to get a better look at BMW’s newest 3-series line-up. BMW Performance has been hard at work improving on the new model and making it worth of our high standards.

As much as we love to get our hands on the latest model it first has to pass our inspection. Unfortunately we do not have all of the specs or pictures. BMW is only give us a sneak peek into what we can expect through a YouTube video. It is something that many automakers have begun to do in order to inflict torture on all of us enthusiasts in the world.

But at the same time we love the excitement of getting little bits and pieces of the big picture before it is revealed in all its glory (we hope). From this video you can make out a few details. You can see the BMW Performance badge, plastic molding that helps keep it close to the ground, and carbon fiber side mirrors.

If all goes as planned this will be the only teaser we need before it is fully revealed to us sometime during this month. We will make sure to get all of the pictures and specs when it is. But for now enjoy the video!

New Shots Of Nissan’s 370Z Convertible

Inside Line has a few spy shots of the new Nissan 370Z convertible. The convertible is still covered with a little bit of camouflage – but we assume that the coverings are going to come off in a few weeks. You can see that the camo is trying to hide the new back end and nose that they have redesigned for the new model.

Inside Line reported that the new Z will still use a power folding soft top instead of switching to the heavier mechanized hard top that many automakers have switched to using. But the soft top is much cheaper for them to use and it helps to keep the weight of the car down.

The car has been equipped with a 3.7 liter V8 engine. It also comes with a six speed manual and seven speed automatic gearboxes. The new 370Z convertible will be debuted during the 2009 New York Auto Show only a few months after the coupe has been debuted. It will go on sale shortly after that.

1963 Corvette Grand Sport Up For Auction

There are many classic Corvettes as well as modern Corvettes that we love and someday they will be classics in the future. One of the biggest Corvette classics to date is the 1963 Corvette Grand Sport. Only five of these cars were produced and there were labeled the “father of the Corvette”.

This classic car competed with Shelby’s Cobra roadsters before it was cancelled in 1964. Now a days it is extremely rare to find one of these Corvettes on sale today – but for the first time in awhile one is going to be auctioned off. Keith Martin – the publisher of Corvette Market Magazine and RM have dubbed the Grand Sport the most important Corvette that was ever on sale.

The Corvette Grand Sport to be auctioned off in January is chassis #002 and is only one of two roadsters that were made. It is equipped with its original unrestored body and was once owned by Roger Penske and George Wintersteen.
