Aston Martin Tests V12 Vantage Prototype On Nurburgring Track
The engineers at Aston Martin were seen testing the limited edition V-12 Vantage prototype on the Nurburgring track. It is scheduled to debut later this year as a 2009 model.
Powering the track oriented model will be a 6.0-liter V-12 making 600 horsepower and 509 lb-ft of torque. According to Aston Martin, the lightweight Vantage can run to 62 mph in 4.0 seconds and on to 100 mph in 8.5 seconds. Much of the technology used in building the engine, like the unit’s dry-sump lubrication system, was derived from the automaker’s DBRS9 racecars.
Noble M600 Spy Shots Taken
Autocar.uk was lucky enough to get a peek at the new Noble M600. Granted it was still wearing its camoflauge – but every little bit counts. They managed to catch a picture of the back end of the car – which shows a twin-turbocharged version of the 4.4 liter V8 Yamaha engine that can also be found in the Volvo XC90.
Volkswagen W12 Concept
The Volkswagen W12 concept is equipped with a six-litre 12-cylinder engine that is mid-mounted and weighs 1,200 Kilo. It develops a maximum torque of 620 Newton metres at only 5,800 rpm and has a top speed of over 350 km/h and an acceleration speed of less than 3.5 seconds to 100 km/h.
2010 Ferrari Millechile Concept
The 2010 Ferrari Millechili is a lightweight two-seater that is 2200 pounds or even less that comes equipped with Formula 1 technology. Ferrari has plans for it to be the successor to the Ferrari Enzo and by doing this they will be removing weight instead of adding any power.
F1 goodies make their way onto a road car. The technology and light weight will make this car spectacularly quick but also fuel efficient. At least we don’t have to worry about the name because we have been told that the production version will be given a new one.
BMW X1 To Be Revealed At Paris In September
BMW will be revealing the new X1 compact CUV concept at the Paris Motor Show in September. They have already started production on the car at the Leipzig facility.
As is often the case with BMW, the “concept” is almost exactly what we’ll see when it goes on sale in the fourth quarter of 2009. The new model will be built off the 1-series platform (a shortened 3-series) and according to an unnamed source quoted by Automotive News, “will use the two highest spec gasoline and the two highest spec diesel engines from the 1-series.”
