Porsche Takes Victory From Audi
It was Porsche against Audi at the last lap of the American Le Mans. Neck in neck they raced each one trying to get ahead of the other. Then suddenly Audi experiences a mechanical malfunction and Porsche raced ahead and taking home the victory.
Timo Bernhard and Romain Dumas took another overall victory for Porsche in the ALMS at Mosport with a late pass on the ailing Audi of Allan McNish. The Scottish driver appeared to have the race wrapped-up heading into the closing stages, but he was unable to hold on when his R10 became stuck in gear.

People are starting to question whether drivers of supercars really know how to properly drive their expensive and flashy vehicles. The last greatest deisel vehicle that they built was the R10 TDI race car, which won at the 12 Hours of Sebring and the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the Petit Le Mans.

Various German carmakers have been promising to bring an exotic, high-powered mid-engined sports car to America ever since Mercedes showed the C111 Wankel-powered road burner in 1970. The closest they ever came was the recent $450,000 Porsche Carrera GT. Now Audi is showing a new middle-motored exotic that will come to market for less than a fourth of the Porsche’s original price.
