Spoon Sports To Transform NSX Into U.S. Spec NSX-R
August 21st, 2008
Spoon Sports is a motorsport partner with Honda and has been for quite some time. They will be producing a U.S. specifications NSX and transforming it into the NSX-R’s. The new modifications include larger anti-roll bars, stiffer shocks and springs, forged 17” alloy wheels, slotted brake rotors, shorter final-drive gear ratio, and a rear diffuser.
Part of the NSX-R’s appeal was a product of Honda’s desire to keep weight in check, so in order to get as close to the JDM version’s 2,800-pound curb weight, Spoon will replace the hood, rear spoiler and seats with carbon fiber pieces, fit a smaller battery, manually-adjustable mirrors, thinner rear window glass, lightweight carpets and will rip out all of the sound deadening material.
Edmunds Creates Its Own Rendering On Acura NSX
July 29th, 2008
Edmunds have decided to do their own rendering of what they believe will be the new Acura NSX. They have taken the spy shots of the 2010 version taken on the Nurburgring track. According to Edmunds the new supercar will look “neat but not gorgeous…following the 2007 Detroit Auto Show concept car’s lines closer than first thought.”
They stated that Honda has employed their recent experiences with F1 to create a design generating maximum downforce and straight-line stability. That’s why they claim the 2010 Acura NSX was able to drop a lap time of 7 minutes, 37 seconds on its first attempt around the Nürburgring — and will more than likely give the GT-R a run for the money shot on the sub-7:30 time.
Acura NSX Determined To Beat Nissan GT-R Lap Time At Nurburgring
July 15th, 2008
The original Acura NSX was considered to be one of Japan’s most popular supercars. But times have changes and the Nissan GT-R is quickly making its way to the top slot in the consumer’s mind. Because of this Honda is going to reclaim back the hearts of the people and push their way back to the top.
Takeo Fukui - CEO for Honda - stated that the next-generation Honda NSX (Acura NSX) will beat the lap time made by the Nissan GT-R and the Lexus LF-A on the Nurburgring. Anyone who can make good time on this ring is deemed to be truly faster then your average car.
Acura NSX Prototype Spotted At Nurburgring Track
June 18th, 2008
More spy shots of the Acura NSX prototype was taken this week – but this time it was found running laps on the Nurburgring test track. Whether or not this was a positive test is something that we are trying to figure out.
We heard that the car was being driven around so hard and fast that it left front wheel of the car caught air during one of the hard corners. Unfortunately the heavy camouflage makes it hard for us to get a better look at the car.
Spy Photo Of Acura NSX Prototype
June 17th, 2008
Spy shots were taken of the new prototype of the Acura NSX. Usually we don’t write much about an a new Acura that is being produced - but it looks like Acura might be changing their look. The S2000 makeshift bodywork has been replaced by a classic and what looks to be a long-hooded profile of a sports car. It looks much more aggressive than previous Advanced Sports Car Concept.
The camouflage does a good job of hiding most of the details, particularly up front. Still, you can make out the three well-defined intake openings there, as well as headlamps that are larger than the slitlike units shown on last year’s concept car.
