Cadillac To Downsize Engines For Customers
Wednesday, July 30th, 2008
Thomas G. Stephens - GM Exec VP - stated that they will be stated this week that Cadillac will be downsizing their engines in the luxury department. According to the Auto Observer they are talking about letting go of a 4-cylinder turbocharged engine (similar to the turbo Ecotec) that is used in the Cadillac CTS.
They are also thinking about trading cylinder count and displacement for turbo charging as well as direct injection. Said Stephens, “We’re ready. When (customers) want it - we’ll do it.” While the idea of a four-banger CTS Wagon is pretty alluring, we see a problem with their strategy.
