Bentley Works To Create Enviromental Friendly Cars

Bentley LogoBentley is working to build its models to be more enviromentally friendly according to the EU-wide regulations. ’We are currently forming a view on the matter, for instance by talking to politicians in England,’ Bentley head Franz-Josef Paefgen stated. ‘And when the view is complete, we will decide in spring 2008 what to do.

‘Bentley’s powerful Bentley models traditionally use a comparably large amount of fuel, with the Coupe Continental GT guzzling an average of more than 17 litres of fuel per 100 kilometres. The car emits some 396 grams of carbon dioxide per kilometre, which is well above proposed EU regulation limiting CO2 emissions to 120 grams per kilometre by 2012.

Paefgen also said Bentley aims to reach annual unit sales of 10,000 vehicles for the first time this year, helped by an 18 pct gain in unit sales during the first six months of this year, the newspaper said.
