Audi RS4 To Receive Supercharged V6 Engine

Written by tonks on July 15, 2008

Audi RS4Audi revealed its newest S4 sedan that will be equipped with a supercharged V6 3.0 liter engine. According to new reports the S4 will not be the only car to receive the A4-variant. Audi stated that the RS4 will also be equipped with it.

As of now there is no information on the horsepower rating of the RS4 – but it was confirmed by Car Magazine that the power plant use will be identical to the one used in the S4. Even with the fact that all of the competitors to the RS4 are equipped with V8’s they are confident that consumers will overlook this.

After all, the original RS4 used a forced induction V6 and the most resent RS4 actually sparked the jump to V8s. “They [BMW, Mercedes, Lexus] have followed, but now we will go back,” the source told Car Magazine. The supercharged V6 should offer V8 levels of torque but return much better fuel economy.
