2012 Lexus GS-F Concept

2012 Lexus GS-FThe 2012 Lexus GS-F is going to be one that we will be watching closely looking at everything they will be doing to it. Why? Well already we have heard news about the engine that it will be housing, the V-10 5.0 liter.

This also is official notice that a V-10 has emerged as the engine Lexus will use in its supercar. Lexus hasn’t announced the engine, or even made the supercar official. The GS-F apparently hasn’t been approved for production. It would be a good idea, though, and not just for enthusiasts. It would cut engine costs through higher volume than by building it just for the exclusive supercar.

If and when the GS-F will be approved it will most likely be hitting the dealers in a little over a year. Right now it is being scheduled for the 2011 model year. You can expect visual mods similar to those of the forthcoming V-8-powered IS-F. Transmission is likely to be the eight-speed automatic from the LS 460, modified to allow full manual mode via paddles and ultrafast shifts.

Cool article but Lexus gotta change the look of the car. Learn from Infiniti 2011 M cars.

Why need a de-tuned V10 engine? Can they just tune a V8 engine? Really, does Lexus think that they can slap on a V10 and make it better?
