2009 Spyker C12 ZagatoSpyker vehicles, in a unique collaboration with Italian coachbuilder Zagato, has built the limited-edition C12 Zagato. Based on the C12 Spyder, the new model will be produced in only a limited run of only 24 units and will be priced from around $650,000, with the first deliveries to begin in March 2008.

Both Spyker and Zagato have roots in the aircraft business. In addition, Spyker recently acquired the Midland Formula 1 team and wanted to incorporate design elements from its new F8-VII formula racing car into the road car. The C12 Zagato then was fashioned under the direction of Norihiko Harada, Zagato’s chief designer. Among the F1 design details are the nose, air scoop, mirrors, fuel flap and diffuser. Zagato also has fitted a panoramic roof with its signature “double bubble.”

The rear-wheel-drive C12 Zagato boasts a 6.0-liter W12 engine sourced from Volkswagen. Rated at 500 horsepower, it propels the aluminum-bodied C12 Zagato from zero to 60 mph in less than 3.8 seconds. Buyers can specify a six-speed manual or automatic gearbox, the latter equipped with paddle shifters. Top speed is 193 mph. The full leather interior sports instruments by Chronoswiss mounted in a brushed aluminum instrument panel.
