Lotus has released their Exige Cup 260 for the 2008 model year – which they will use to win races around the world. For 2009 Lotus has dropped the weight by more then 80 pounds this year to just under a ton due to the use of carbon fiber.
The 2009 Exige 260 is powered by a Toyota sourced 1.8 liter engine that can push out 257 horsepower and allow it to go from 0 to 60 miles per hour in less then 4 seconds. In order to keep the car from leaving the planet Lotus has installed variable traction control, launch control, and 40 kilograms of downforce at 100 mph.
Those who actually want to take this bad boy on the road will only be able to if they are in the European Union where it is street legal. You can purchase one in the UK for £45,995.
