2006 RUF Rt 12
In 1987, a Ruf CTR Yellowbird topped 210 mph and took barely 4 seconds to go from zero to 60 mph. Needless to say, Ruf sports cars hasn’t exactly slowed down since. In the metal, it looks much more menacing than it does in pictures. The Ruf-designed front and rear bumpers, lowered suspension and widened rear fenders make the car look ready for takeoff. Air intakes in the rear fenders appear big enough to swallow a seagull. The wild blue hue of this example, and its enormous carbon-fiber rear spoiler, ensure that the Rt 12 is no supercar wallflower.
Acura Advanced Sports Concept
After the ground-breaking naming convention started by the Advanced Sedan concept unveiled in L.A., Acura unveiled a concept of its own in Detroit called the Advanced Sports Car concept. Having been out of the sports car market since the NSX back in 2005, Acura is ready for re-entry, although NSX purists will be disappointed that the company’s next sports car will likely not be a mid-engine exotic, but a front engine grand tourer, possibly a 2+2.
2008 Rolls Royce Coupe To Debute At Detroit Auto Show
The Detroit Auto Show in tradition is geared toward the domestic automakers, who pull out all the stops as they debute some of their best and brightest new products and concepts. This year, however, the ultimate showstopper may well be located at the Rolls-Royce display. The fabled British marque has chosen Detroit to reveal the 2008 Phantom Drophead Coupe, a jaw-droppingly hansom 4-seat convertible aimed squarely at Bentley’s Azure.
Morris And Bargwanna Cover Champ Car Absence
Jason Bargwanna is ready to take on Holden rival Paul Morris in a V8 Supercar duel around Mount Panorama after the engine for the Team Australia Champ Car failed to be delivered to the WPS Bathurst Motorsport Festival from the United States in time. Stepping in to cover the cancelled Champ Car demonstration laps, Morris will be driving a V8 Superschool Holden against Bargwanna in a WPS Ford around the 6.213 kilometre circuit.
